Haidas Sugarlicious is a fancy filly with beautiful flowing motion and a
wonderful personality. She has great conformation with long straight
legs, a strong topline and deep set hocks.
Sired by the only son of Haidas Sugar Doc (cutting
earnings of $194,000) standing to the public, he is a rare find. And
out of a daughter of Doc Tari, whose offspring were
shown successfully in both cutting and reining.
With greats such as Docs
Sugs
Brudd er (, Docs Haida
(get earnings of over $900,000),
Doc Tari, Doc Bar and High Brow Hickory on his face papers, it
wouldn't be wrong to show and promote this little horse.
Ding has been bred to Young N High (High Brow Hickory x Young
Gun daughter) for a late April 2010 foal. |

Lucky's
Angelface 1998 Sorrel Overo Mare
Angel is Lucky's fifth and last baby. And what a shock
she was. Everyone was hoping and praying for a buckskin paint and out popped
this strawberry roan with minimal white. Angel has been a great first
horse for Melissa. They are definitely repeating the history that Angel's
dam and I have.
Angel is doing really well in 2009. She has been visited by an equine
chiropractor with great results. We are hoping to get her going back under
saddle shortly and will then make a decision as to whether we will be keeping
her or selling her. |

Dolly is a beautiful 13 year old
bay mare. Dolly is broodmare sound only due to an accident when she was two.
Dolly's last five foals
have all been stunners. They all have great bone and size. Dolly is an easy
breeder, always settling on her first cycle in with the stallion. She foals
very easily and is a great mother.
Dolly foaled a bay colt on May 22, 2009. His sire is Sweet Slydun Doc
(Slydun Haida x Semi Sweet Doc). She will be bred back in June to
either Sweet Slydun Doc or to Young N High (High Brow Hickory x Young Gun
daughter).

Lucky Buckskin Mare
1976 - January 17, 2009
Lucky
was the "grand dam" of our farm.
We were a team for over 28 years.
I purchased Lucky in August of
1980 and we began our journey together. Along the way, Lucky blessed
me with five beautiful babies...one of which we still have to remember her
by.
Lucky and I traveled together where ever the winds of
time have taken us - from High River, Alberta, where we started our journey
- to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan (in the back of a truck with stock racks no less)
- and to our final resting place - Mundare, Alberta. Lucky has known many
places to lay her head with the final being here in Mundare.
Lucky did lots for me and my family...teaching us patience,
tolerance, and acceptance. Patience because she could be so damn hard to
catch. Tolerance because of her quirkiness and finicky eating habits.
And acceptance of her not being "like" all the other horses...who loved us and
our attention.
She always played by her own rules. Allowed things to
be done to her in her own time...and never ever let me forget that she could
outrun me at the drop of a hat. She also never gave into the "horse
whisperer" training that we all, at one time, try to adopt for our horses.
Lucky struggled a little this year. Both with her
weight and her position in the herd. I could tell by late fall that it
was going to be a hard winter, but then she would rally every time I thought
"okay this is it".
We went away on vacation in early January and Lucky was
never the same after I left. Melissa struggled to keep her going until I
got home...but it was just not meant to be. In the early morning of
January 17, Melissa went out to the barn to feed and found Lucky down.
After some frantic calls to find me in Mexico, more to her grandparents in BC
and then a final one to the vet, the decision was made to put Lucky down.
She went peacefully and quietly over the Rainbow Bridge.
I said my good-bye's to my dear old friend on January 19
when she was laid to rest in her favorite clearing.
She truly was my "once in a lifetime" horse and will
NEVER be forgotten.

We purchased Semi Sweet Doc in
May of 2004 to add some power to our broodmare herd.
Semi has blessed us with two stunning foals.
One is being kept as a possible replacement for her in the broodmare band
and the other will be our third stallion. Both have really nice
pedigrees for the cutting ring.
Semi's health has been slowly deteriorating this
year due to injuries. In May, she suffered a huge chest injury and
then in June, in yet another accident, she suffered some nerve damage to her
face. While neither are life threatening, they were enough that they
have caused her some difficulties in both mobility and her ability to eat
properly. With
great thought and in consult with her vet, we have made the extremely hard decision to have
Semi put down before the cold Canadian winter sets in. It was an very
emotional day for us here but we know our decision was for the best as Semi
had really started to deteriorate in body condition even with all the extra
feed we were giving her. Semi's last day with us dawned very cold and
blustery but her energy and zest for all good things...mainly her
breakfast...was undiminished. Her zest for life will never be
forgotten and her spirit will live on forever in her foals and especially in
my memories.
May she rest in peace!!! |
